IdenTrust CA is a leading public key certification authority formed by a group of top banks. It is important to note that banks are one of the largest consumers of Public Key Infrastructure and therefore the need to invest in the technology.

In 1999, top banks including:

  • Bank of America
  • Chase Bank
  • ABN AMRO
  • Deutsche Bank
  • Barclays Bank
  • Among others

Created IdenTrust in Newyork and later moved it to Bay Area, San Francisco.

From 2015 t0 2019 IdenTrust was cross signing Lets Encrypt free SSL certificate, a move that led the CA to be become the leader Certification Authority.

Lets Encrypt has eversince gone to sign using its own root.

IdenTrust specializes in Public Key Infrastructure for Government solutions, Healthcare solutions, Banking Solutions.
